EMPATHY

You've Done Everything They Told You To.

You’ve been to the neurologist. You’ve tried the medications — maybe multiple rounds of multiple drugs. Triptans, beta blockers, anti-seizure meds. Some helped a little. Most gave you side effects without stopping the pain.

You track your triggers. You’ve cut out red wine, aged cheese, caffeine. You manage your sleep. You wear sunglasses. You’ve learned to function through a certain level of pain because the alternative is losing days of your life in a dark room.

And you’re still getting migraines.

Here’s something most migraine patients are never told: the medications you’ve been prescribed treat the neurological event that IS the migraine. They don’t ask — and can’t answer — why your brain is having that event in the first place.

That’s what we ask.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

Why Migraines Stay Mysterious in Conventional Care

Neurology is focused on the brain and nervous system. When standard screening shows no tumor, no lesion, no structural abnormality, treatment pivots to symptom management. That’s not negligence — it’s the limit of what the specialty is designed to evaluate.

What neurology typically doesn’t screen for:

Toxicity & liver overload. When the liver and detoxification pathways are overwhelmed — by mold, heavy metals, chemical exposures, or metabolic waste — the nervous system can become hypersensitive. Migraines are one of the most common downstream effects.

Blood sugar instability. Even subtle blood sugar drops (hypoglycemia) are a well-documented migraine trigger. Yet most neurological workups never evaluate insulin function or blood sugar dynamics across the day.

Gut-brain axis dysfunction. The gut and brain communicate constantly. Gut inflammation, dysbiosis, and intestinal permeability send pro-inflammatory signals that can amplify neurological symptoms, including migraines.

Upper cervical misalignment. The top two vertebrae of the spine directly affect blood flow to the brain and nerve signaling from the brainstem. Upper cervical subluxation is a structural migraine trigger that neurology rarely evaluates.

Hormonal fluctuations. Estrogen shifts are among the most common migraine triggers in women — yet a full functional hormonal evaluation is rarely part of a standard neurology workup.

Nutrient deficiencies. Magnesium deficiency has decades of evidence linking it to migraine frequency. B2, CoQ10, and other micronutrients play documented roles. Most patients are never tested.

THE STORY

10 Years of Daily Migraines. Solved in One Assessment.

Jordan Rawls spent 10 years looking for an answer. Neurologists. Medications. Acupuncturists. Life coaches. Eye doctors. ENTs. Nothing lasted.

By the time she came to Innovation Health in October 2025, she had been getting daily migraines — every single day — for two months straight. Pain levels of 8 to 9.

“I used to be able to hide my suffering until I could not. I would bawl up in a fetal position crying out in pain and defeat.”

On the initial assessment, Dr. Lauren Pepper identified what no one else had looked for: Jordan had developed sensitivities to eight environmental substances, including severe mold in her home. Her immune system and detox pathways were overloaded.

Three weeks into a targeted detox protocol — the daily migraines stopped.

“In ten years, I had never known what the root cause of my migraines were and finally I have answers and solutions that work. Dr. Wolf and Dr. Pepper were a God Sent.” — Jordan Rawls, Charlotte NC

THE APPROACH

How We Evaluate and Treat Chronic Migraines

Dr. Lauren Pepper’s Functional Medicine Evaluation: Advanced lab panels go far beyond standard bloodwork — evaluating liver and detox function, gut health markers, blood sugar and insulin dynamics, full hormonal profiles, micronutrient status, inflammatory markers, and toxicity indicators. The goal is a clear map of how your body’s systems are interacting and where breakdowns are occurring.

Dr. Brad Wolf’s Chiropractic Evaluation: Upper cervical alignment, cranial-cervical junction mechanics, and overall spinal posture are assessed. For many migraine patients, structural correction produces significant — sometimes immediate — relief.

Integrated Treatment Protocol: Based on findings, we build a specific plan that may include targeted detox, nutraceutical protocols, upper cervical chiropractic adjustments, dietary modifications, and lifestyle interventions. The plan addresses the specific causes we find — not a generic migraine protocol.
