CHIROPRACTOR
I am a big believer that life has a way of pushing you in the direction you are meant to move. Sometimes this happens gently and others time we are dramatically pushed. In my case, I think I was literally pushed into becoming a Chiropractor.
When I was sixteen years old I broke my femur (thigh) bone when I slipped and fell twenty feet and landed like a sack of cement on the hard ground. After spending 100 days in the hospital healing from this incident, I was finally released from care with a completely healed leg and an eager desire to get on with my life as an active teenager.
Unfortunately, I started to have other health issues that I had never experienced before in my young life including debilitating menstrual cramps each month, headaches and constant low back pain. The doctors were perplexed and couldn’t offer me or my parents any real answers except to prescribe medications to dull the symptoms and further testing… all to no avail.
Even as a young girl, I was never comfortable with these limited choices but too uninformed to know what else to do. Six months later, while visiting my grandparents in Florida, they suggested I visit their Chiropractor to address my low back pain. I had never heard of such a doctor before but was open to finding some help for my constant discomfort.
This is when my life changed dramatically… I didn’t realize it yet but looking back this was all part of my being “pushed” in a certain direction. Not only did this wonderful Chiropractor begin to resolve my low back pain and headaches but he also educated me on the relationship between my “female issues” and the nerve supply associated with my reproductive organs. He concluded that my dramatic fall caused enough jolting to the delicate balance between my spinal alignment and my nerves… basically causing the communication between my brain and body to malfunction.
He began educating me on the design of the human body, showing me intricate nerve supply diagrams that peaked my understanding. It all began to make crystal clear sense to me that the cause of many health problems can begin in the spine and lead to symptoms throughout the body. Rather than merely treating the pain, he designed a thorough plan of action to deal with the cause of my unresolved issues. He then suggested I find a Chiropractor back home to continue treatment. After three months of regular chiropractic care, ALL of my pain and suffering was resolved naturally without medication or surgery and never returned again.

Over time I noticed other changes so profound that I decided I had to become one of these special doctors!. My energy improved, I had greater focus and mental clarity, I rarely got sick, I felt physically balanced and stronger and I began to really understand the importance of spinal care for more than just back pain.
So in 1997, after receiving my undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology, I returned to school for another four years and became a Chiropractor. What a great decision! It is a blessing to wake up each day and know I get to help people resolve their health issues naturally. I will be forever grateful for my unfortunate accident, the fractured femur and to the Chiropractor (and my grandparents) for changing my life in such a profound way.
To date, my greatest accomplishment is motherhood. I am a blessed mother of two healthy children that teach me more about life every day than anyone. Yet over the years, I have trained with some of the top professionals in the fields of health and human potential including Dr. Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, and Dr. John Gray.
My passion for chiropractic has open the backstage doors to treat many professional entertainers over the years including Kenny Loggins, Earth, Wind and Fire, Al Jarreau, The Gypsy Kings, Aerosmith, Prince, Sara McLachlan and Cirque Du Soleil performers.
I love helping to inspire people to become more empowered with their health care and have been invited to speak to many groups over all these years including Marriott Headquarters, Freddie Mac Foundation, Booz, Allen and Hamilton, Jewish Community Center, Fannie Mae, BECO North and South, and countless women’s groups and schools.
I hope that you feel inspired to learn more about how your body can be in balance: Body, Mind, and Spirit through the benefits of holistic chiropractic care. I look forward to helping you soon.
With a gentle nudge rather than a dramatic push!
